Eastbound & Down will be going to Mexico

In Television on April 23, 2010 at 1:45 pm

The second season of Eastbound & Down will be set in Mexico.  I repeat, the second season of Eastbound & Down will be set in Mexico.  ‘nuff said.  From me.

Deadline Hollywood has more details:

“In Season 2, hiding from his problems, Kenny finds himself in Mexico where he joins a local baseball team. Crash co-star Pena will play Kenny’s friend and owner of the baseball team he joins. De la Reguera will play Kenny’s love interest in Mexico. Because of the new setting, most of the cast members from Season 1 of the show will have little or no presence next season with the exception of Steve Little whose character Stevie Janowski will track Danny down in Mexico. Casting is underway for the role of Kenny’s father. Production on Season 2 will start next month in Puerto Rico, which will stand in for Mexico.”

Scott Pilgrim Trailer Released, Some Weeks Ago

In Film on April 23, 2010 at 1:46 am

This trailer was released a couple of weeks ago.  I didn’t think much of it at the time and I’m still feeling lukewarm about the whole thing after repeated viewings.  The film, as represented by the trailer, seems to faithfully capture all the quirky elements of the series, from videogame references to the vegan-powered  telekinesis.  But, those elements aren’t necessarily what makes Scott Pilgrim so darn fantastic.

Much like Love and Rockets, Brian Lee O’Malley’s Scott Pilgrim soars during the quiet moments.  I’m talking about Scott and Ramona’s first date, the sushi dinners, and the Kim Pine-Scott Pilgrim origin story.  Judging by the action-packed trailer, the film is going a different direction.
